TREATMENT INFORMATION
In addition to providing medical personnel with up-to-the-minute data on the status of casualties in an emergency, the ARTEMIS system could also be used to provide treatment information to responders on the scene. Based on the quantitative and qualitative information provided by the physiological and human "sensors", basic suggestions on injury treatment can be sent wirelessly to reponders who are on the scene, ready and able to help a wounded individual.
DATA CONTINUITY
Another advantage to the electronic storage of casualty data is that injury and medical data can follow a casualty through all levels of the treatment heirarchy. Information entered on the scene by a first responder can be made available to ambulance and hospital staff, and can be cross-referenced with an individual's medical history, if available. Treatment records travel with a casualty, reducing confusion and simplifying the transfer of casualties from a disaster site to a centralized treatment facility.

Below is an example screen from our first responder application, showing an electronic treatment tag that can be filled out to indicate that various treatments have been administered. This information will then be immediately available to other first responders on the scene, as well as other health workers who may encounter the casualty at a later point in the disaster-management process.
