BGP Archive and Analysis

Project Summary: An archive of Border Gateway Protocol (BP) routing tables or "snapshots" of Internet routes might be able to answer questions such as "What was the path from IP 10.0.0.1 to IP 11.0.0.2 on Sept 3 at 3 PM?"  A query of such an achieve could show the likely AS path that a packet might have taken.  An exhaustive record of all border routers is not feasible, but an archive of 10 to 20 key border routers might provide useful information.  Coupled with an HTML query interface, the archive could be used to investigate incidents days, weeks, or months after a significant event.  This system is considered the first step toward a larger Internet monitoring system.
