Richard Guida, MS, MBA

Richard Guida

Mr. Guida is the Vice President, Worldwide Information Security at Johnson & Johnson. He is responsible for security policy and direction covering the entire Johnson & Johnson enterprise of over 250 operating companies and over 110,000 employees. He was appointed to this role in April 2008, having joined Johnson & Johnson in 2001 as a Director, Information Security in the same department.

Prior to his work at Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Guida was Senior Technical Advisor to the Treasury Chief Information Officer. In this role, he acted as Chair of the Federal Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) Steering Committee. His responsibilities included promoting the use of public key technology within Federal agencies and with trading partners for internet security, and developing and implementing mechanisms to allow agency PKI’s to interoperate. Before his position in the Treasury Department, Mr. Guida spent 25 years in the Department of the Navy; four as an active duty officer and the last 21 as a civilian employee in the Navy’s Nuclear Propulsion Program. He was promoted to the Federal Senior Executive Service in 1989.

Mr. Guida has received multiple awards including the Federal Chief Information Officers Council Distinguished Service Award, Department of Energy Exceptional Service Award, the Presidential Meritorious Executive Rank Award, five military medals as a Naval Reserve officer, and three Johnson & Johnson Standards of Leadership awards. He received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and his M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his M.B.A. from The George Washington University.
