PKCS Security Open House - "Crimeware and What it Means for Dartmouth"

October 28, 2009

Fake security software, illegal online sales, targeted phishing, and other scams are changing the motivations and methods of cyber attacks. Recent security incidents at the College highlight this fact and stress the importance of understanding and countering the threats. This Open House will focus on crimeware and address the following topics:

  • The economics of crimeware
  • Why Dartmouth systems are a target
  • Analysis of campus incidents from the past six months
  • Countering the threat: technical controls, user awareness, and policy development

This will be an open technical discussion and any interested member of the Dartmouth community is invited to attend.
