A native Vermonter, Susan Knapp came to Dartmouth in January 2001 after eleven years at the New England Aquarium in Boston. At the Aquarium, Knapp was responsible for all public relations activities, including promoting exhibits, educational activities, and environmental expertise. She worked with the husbandry staff, the emergency animal rescue team, educators and researchers, and exhibit design groups. Knapp is currently a public affairs officer at Dartmouth and the College's science writer. She works on publicizing the scholarly activities of faculty and students in addition to promoting campus-wide initiatives and institutional projects. She has been instrumental in developing, launching, and maintaining the College's Views from the Green podcast series, highlighting a variety of faculty, administrators, and students through conversations about their work. She is a member of the professional groups the National Association of Science Writers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the New England Science Writers. Knapp received her bachelor's degree at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass., majoring in American studies with a minor in biology.
