ACLU of New Hampshire

Devon Chaffee is the Executive Director of the ACLU of New Hampshire, were she serves as the organization’s primary spokesperson and oversees its legal, legislative, public education, and development activities. Before coming to New Hampshire, Devon was Legislative Council to the ACLU’s National Office in Washington, DC where she was responsible for stopping bias policing, prisoner abuse, privacy violations and free speech infringement by the federal government. Prior to joining the ACLU, she served as Advocacy Counsel at Human Rights First (HRF), fighting against U.S. national security policies that violate human rights. Devon has served as faculty for UNH Law School and for the Association of Professionals in Humanitarian Assistance and Protection where she has taught courses on the law of armed conflict, private security contractors, and national security law. She currently serves as a member of the Board of the New Hampshire Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty and she is the former Chair of the American Bar Association Subcommittee on National Security and Civil Liberties. Devon received her J.D. magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center.
